Job Description:
Mylar Law specializes in defending the civil rights of sheriffs, deputies, and jail medical professionals. Each year, our firm defends clients in bench and jury trials in the Utah Supreme Court, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and occasionally the United States Supreme Court. We value our close partnership with organizations such as Alliance Defending Freedom as we deal with issues of religious freedom, parental rights, and discrimination. In addition to vindicating the civil rights of our clients, our practice handles several domestic, family law, immigration, Christian reconciliation, and pro bono protective order cases.

Role Description: This is a full-time, on-site role for an associate attorney at Mylar Law, P.C., located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Part-time and tele-commuting options will be considered on an individual basis. This associate attorney will be responsible for drafting motions, memoranda, and briefs and for practicing general litigation before district courts and courts of appeal. This associate attorney must be willing to represent in religious freedom and parental rights cases and to at times work alongside the Alliance Defending Freedom. Applications are taken and start dates are determined on a rolling basis.

Qualifications:
• Proficiency in writing and researching legal memoranda.
• Litigation experience preferred.
• Strong legal research preferred and experience with LEXIS or WestLaw.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and Bar admission to at least one state and ability to join the Utah State Bar soon.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

Essential Functions:
• Assist in drafting pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
• Craft legal arguments based on review and analysis of caselaw and case-specific documents.
• Represent clients in court hearings and depositions.
• Assist the lead attorney in bench and jury trials.
• Effectively communicate with clients and staff.
• Review and proofread the work of paralegals to ensure legal and factual accuracy, proper formatting, spelling, and grammar, completion of signature pages, attachments, exhibits, and enclosures.
• Manage and prioritize calendars, workload, and deadlines for the cases you are assigned.

Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000, depending upon experience.
