Description:
The Associate Director of External Relations (ADER) supports the Associate Dean for External Relations in overseeing Alumni Relations, Development, Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD), Public Affairs, Marketing, and External Event Management. In this role the ADER works with a wide range of departments, faculty, staff, and students within the School of Law and University to develop and implement strategies for success. In conjunction with the Associate Dean the ADER plans, launches, and manages Alumni outreach and events and Donor outreach and events. The ADER is responsible for assisting the Associate Dean in the development and maintenance of Alumni and Donor information and databases and helps coordinate a communication plan with Alumni, Donors, and other School of Law constituencies. The ADER also works alongside the Associate Dean to support efforts by CCPD in student placements and Public Affairs and Marketing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains a Christlike testimony and upholds a demonstrable commitment to the mission of the School of Law;
- Committed to implementing a discipleship-based focus in alumni relations and development, to praying with alumni and donors and helping alumni and donors understand a biblical and theological view of generosity;
- In conjunction with the Associate Dean, strategically plans and implements multi-faceted programs for alumni, students, and friends that increase good will and positive relationships with the law school.
- In conjunction with the Associate Dean, oversees alumni event planning and programs including alumni travel, networking, reunions, professional development, alumni chapters, CLE, and other special events.
- Promotes events that encourage alumni involvement including developing and producing marketing and promotional materials.
- In conjunction with the Associate Dean, identifies, trains, and deploys alumni volunteers, board leaders, and advisory councils.
- Assists the Associate Dean in preparing regular correspondence to alumni.
- Assists the Associate Dean in the development, cultivation, and management of donor relationships by identifying and qualifying law school donors, developing and implementing a regular communication and relational schedule with law school donors, and managing donor databases.
- Assists the Associate Dean in support of CCPD and the Office of Public Affairs.
- Assists the Associate Dean in planning for high visibility speaking engagements and other public relations activities to strategically link the institution and its key leaders with opinion leaders and targeted constituent groups.
- Assists the Associate Dean in the preparation and management of departmental budgets.
- Performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate to accomplish the assigned duties and responsibilities of this position and to support the Associate Dean for External Relations.

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
- Education and Experience Bachelors degree required; possesses or working on a Master Degree or Juris Doctorate is an advantage Knowledge of the legal community
- Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously of a routine and complex nature
- Strong ability to work with and learn a variety of computer systems and programs
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in higher education, talent acquisition and employment placement, and/or non-profit or fundraising activities and administration.
- Managerial and supervisory experience
- Experience working with students and/or employees in a supervisory position in a variety of settings
- Experience working with budget matters, human resources, and IT, preferably in higher education
- Ability to plan and manage a portfolio of events and programs that lead to the achievement of departmental goals as well as an ability to collaborate across a variety of systems and organizational situations
- Ability to collaborate in the workplace, within the immediate department and within the larger institution, as well as a record demonstrating effective cooperation
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and report writing Experience working across disciplines with faculty, colleagues, and managers
- Experience championing institutional commitment and developing an integrated approach to designing and implementing programs to meet departmental objectives
- Experience in program management, higher education, or a related field preferred Knowledge of higher education, legal education and alumni and donors relations is desirable

- Problem Solving. Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Physical and Sensory Abilities.
- Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
- Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
- Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
