Description:

Liberty University School of Law invites applicants for the Director of Clinical Legal Education.  This role is pivotal in ensuring the excellence and effectiveness of our clinical education programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all aspects of the clinical education program, including curriculum development, student supervision, and community partnerships in the School of Law
  • Provide strategic vision and leadership to ensure the continued growth and success of the clinical education program.
  • Develop and oversee a Christian Legal Aid program that provides experiential learning opportunities for students, involves faculty and alumni in pro bono and community service, and serves the underserved by meeting legal needs
  • Design and implement programs that equip students with a biblical view of service and prepare and inspire students to serve clients with excellence
  • Participate in ongoing program evaluation and planning
  • Supervise and mentor clinical students, providing guidance on case work, professional development, and ethical considerations, with a biblical discipleship focus
  • Teach clinical courses, providing students with hands-on experience in legal practice under the supervision of licensed attorneys and teach other courses as assigned
  • Engage in scholarly research and publication in the field of clinical legal education, contributing to the academic discourse and advancement of the field.
  • Participate in professional development activities, including conferences, workshops, and continuing legal education programs.
  • Stay current with developments in legal education, clinical pedagogy, and professional standards relevant to clinical practice.

Salary or salary range: Discussed during the interview process.

Requirements:

  • D. Degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • Active law license in a U.S. jurisdiction with ability to be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • At least six (6) years of combined law practice or clinical teaching experience, preferably with experience in legal aid and/or pro bono services or related areas
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and student mentorship and in creating an inspiring, welcoming, and dynamic learning environment for students
  • Excellent interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with other law school faculty and staff and with external partners
  • Willingness to contribute actively to the mission, vision, and objectives of the School of Law and the University
