Part-Time Accountant Job Opening

Cary Law, a small law firm located in the heart of downtown Cary, is looking for a part-time accountant to handle client invoicing, trust accounting, and other accountant responsibilities for Cary Law. Since 1995, Cary Law has prided ourselves on our personal commitment to staff and clients. Cary Law is a general practice firm with experience in various types of civil and criminal litigation, in addition to real estate and wills and estates work. Our firm currently has one senior partner, two associate attorneys, and one of- counsel attorney. We are dedicated to giving individuals, families, and businesses personalized attention, practical advice, and clear communication. Cary Law. This position requires an experienced and accomplished person with a strong bookkeeping and computer background. Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, law firm billing and QuickBooks software as well as Microsoft Office products is required. Experience with TimeMatters or BillingMatters is strongly preferred, but not required. The position requires experience in a law or other professional service firm environment.

Job Description:

The primary function of this position is performing billing, bookkeeping and accounting functions for

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  1. Must have experience with accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Products. Experience with TimeMatters or BillingMatters is strongly preferred.

  2. Must possess strong administrative and organizational skills.

  3. Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills.

  4. Professional appearance and manner.

Duties:

  1. Work an average of 10-15 hours weekly.

  2. Perform client billing functions.

  3. Perform data entry of cash receipts and client costs in billing and accounting systems.

  4. Perform data entry of cash receipts and disbursements for the IOLTA trust account in the accounting

    systems.

  1. Process credit card transactions.

  2. Reconcile bank statements.

  3. Work up and make bank deposits for the operating and IOLTA accounts.

  4. Provide all required financial reports to the firm owner on a monthly basis.

  5. Management and oversight of the billing and accounting systems.
