Executive Director

Metro Christian Legal Aid (MCLA) seeks an Executive Director who possesses a vision and demonstrated passion for operating and servicing the needs of a Christian-based ministry dedicated to providing legal assistance based upon the Gospel principles of justice, hope and peace. The successful candidate will be provided a competitive compensation package.

         Key Priorities

  • Guide and implement an ongoing planning process with the MCLA Board and staff which builds on existing strengths with a vision for the future

  • Oversee development of strategic infrastructure, policies and procedures

  • Strengthen and expand operations of existing clinics

  • Develop a policy and accept and handle strategic cases and/or legal matters for clients referred to or attending our clinics, especially emergency legal matters

  • Network at the local, state and national levels to create and strengthen relationships with (1) collaborative partners, (2) financial supporters and (3) attorney and non-attorney volunteers

  • Strengthen MCLA’s financial stability by securing traditional and non-traditional funding sources to support its core mission with measureable outcomes

  • Creatively utilize technology to improve services to clients, volunteers and donors and to allow the ministry and staff to work more effectively and efficiently

  • Cultivate existing volunteer relationships by creating a supportive atmosphere, which will increase retention rates for current volunteers

    Core Competencies

  • A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Kentucky or obtaining a license to practice law in Kentucky within one year of hire is required

  • Engage churches, ministries and individuals within the client community

  • Local, state and national relationship-builder and community-connector

  • Legal aid or public interest work and court-room experience preferred

  • Successful track record in resource development and fundraising preferred

  • Prior management experience involving staff supervision, financial oversight and budget development

  • Persuasive and passionate communicator willing to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures

  • Leadership, professionalism, integrity, energy, compassion and enthusiasm, and agrees with and executes MCLA’s Statement of Faith.

    Metro Christian Legal Aid exists to show the love of God and to love our neighbors through a ministry of providing Christ centered gospel justice, gospel hope and gospel peace. MCLA is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) ministry, is operated by a Board of Directors and is devoted to assisting individuals with legal issues through its legal aid clinics, helping in the formation and operation of not-for-profit organizations, and helping individuals and churches in dispute through conflict resolution. MCLA currently operates six (6) legal aid clinics and additional information about this ministry can be found at www.mcla.org.
