Paralegal Specialist

The Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) is a non-partisan, national public interest law firm dedicated to promoting a balanced and responsible legal philosophy to govern the interpretation of U.S. immigration law. IRLI has recently created Attorneys United for a Secure America (AUSA), an association of talented attorneys dedicated to pursuing cases prioritizing national security, defending our nation’s borders, safeguarding the public, protecting jobs, and valuing America’s natural resources.

Position Summary:

The Paralegal Specialist (PS) will work directly with IRLI and AUSA attorneys to prepare legal documents, research legal precedent, and develop and maintain an index system for current and prospective cases. Our caseload is growing and the ideal candidate for this position is organized, professional, responsible, and committed to helping us meet all of our clients’ needs.

Tasks Include:

Assists the Executive Director and department directors in managing firm caseload; Tracks current and prospective cases using a tracking system;Updates IRLI’s library; Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

Paralegal certificate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. 3+ years of relevant experience.
Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint).

Legal research skills with proficiency in Lexis-Nexis and PACER.

Outstanding organizational skills.

Demonstrate good communication skills both verbally and in writing.

This position is located in IRLI’s headquarters in Washington, DC and is a full-time, exempt position. IRLI offers generous benefits and salary is commensurate with experience.
