Ann-Marie René

Ann-Marie joined CLS in 2026 after nearly eight years with the Virginia Office of the Attorney General.  As an assistant attorney general, Ann-Marie represented state agencies in Section 1983 litigation raising First, Fourth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendment claims, as well as claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act. Prior to joining the Office of the Attorney General, Ann-Marie clerked for U.S. Magistrate Judge Roderick C. Young, who is now a U.S. district court judge. Ann-Marie is a graduate of Virginia Tech and the University of Texas School of Law where she served as the executive editor of the Texas Review of Law and Politics. She resides near Richmond, Virginia, with her husband and three children.
